We had our second Progressive Dinner on 4/11. Ray, Charles, Sybil, Donna H, Robin, Allen, Ann T, Ann W, Robert, Janice, Doug, Denise, Lynn, Olivia, Monica, Frank, Alice,Tanya, Lex all had a very filling time going from home to home.
First, at Donna H’s house with appetizers. Wow, she put on a spread with shrimp cocktail, her homemade pimento cheese, strawberry/pineapple skewers, bell pepper/fresh asparagus/colbyjack cheese wrapped in ham, chips, nuts. It was so tempting to eat it all but we knew we had other places to go and other food to eat.
Off to Sybil and Charles’ house for salad. It was so fresh with all kinds of toppings. Lex never uses salad dressing when the salad is fresh and he passed right by the dressings at Sybil’s. We weren’t as hungry as when we arrived at Donna’s but we did justice to the salad and continued to pace ourselves.
Next stop was the Alvords’ home. The entree included ham and chicken, different sauces, cooked baby carrots, baby red potatoes, Brussels sprouts with onions and chutney. Lex made homemade yeast rolls. By now we were all getting to feel a bit tight in the clothing.
Final stop were the Carmans and our sweet tooth was satisfied. Denise had a chocolate cake, a blueberry pound cake and homemade ice cream, with all the toppings. Some of her Australian team sent her a package of Australian cookies called Tim Tams. They are sort of like Keebler’s Fudge Grahams, but so much better. We picked up another couple of partiers with their cats.
We were so full by then and the fellowship we shared in the 4 hours together filled our souls.
If you missed this one, don’t miss the next one. It is a great time to spend together!!
