At ACS this year, the youth learned about a mission called Sole Hope. Jeans are cut in to shoes that are sent to Uganda for kids to use. Kids in Africa go barefoot. And there is a parasite called jiggers that gets in to their feet. Often jiggers gets so bad that kids can no longer walk, which means that they can’t go to school or other kid activities.
On August 30 the Sole Hope missions starts at 630p with the youth providing a spaghetti dinner. After dinner the youth will show us how to cut jeans to make the shoes. Please make sure you register that you are coming so that they know how much dinner to make. If you didn’t sign up in church, you can email Ray at raygooch1950@gmail.com.
Each family attending is asked to bring a pair of jeans. If you don’t have an old pair that can be cut, just go to the Thrift shop and purchase a pair. That also helps our schools. In addition to the old jeans, bring a pair of good cutting scissors and a clean milk jug, that will also be cut for the shoes. Finally, it takes $10 to send the shoes to Uganda. Be in prayer about what donation you can make.
