Today was Baptism of the Lord Sunday. When we walked in, there were all kinds of cups on the altar. Upon closer inspection, they were “sippy” cups. During time with the kids, Preacher Ray asked the kids if they knew what the cups were. The kids did. The cups had water and Ray talked about how that using a sippy cup is one of the ways that kids learn to drink from a cup. And there are all kinds of firsts. For Jesus, His baptism, was the first of his ministry.
During the offering, Ray asked the kids to come and take the sippy cups and pour the water in to the Baptismal font. Then during the last hymn, everyone was encouraged to touch the water to remember their baptism and especially the vows they took.
A wonderful worship time.
