We continue to celebrate Easter even though we worship from a distance. God never leaves us alone or isolated. We saw proof of God’s love in the beautiful flowers on the altar. A sign of spring and resurrection.
May you feel God’s presence in this worship time.

Note from Ray:
Good Morning, Church! Grace and Peace Be to you from Christ Our Lord
Some of you may have read over the years the Mitford series of books written by Jan Karon. Recently I discovered that I had one in my possession that I don’t ever remember reading so I’ve kept it by the bedside to read before going to sleep or when I’ve awakened during the night. Father Tim is one of the primary characters in the Mitford series. He is now a retired Episcopal priest who is going through a time of depression. He feels badly and lacks energy and motivation. But at the place where I am in the book right now he has had an awakening and is being reminded that God still has a plan for his life, but instead of trying to figure it out, he is learning to wait for God’s revealing.
Today’s gospel lesson from Luke tells the story of two disciples journey on Easter day to a village not very far from Jerusalem. Earlier in the day they had received news that the tomb was empty. When Jesus joined them on their walk and they not recognizing them, he made the statement, “How foolish you are not to believe the witness of the scripture.” As I have been reading Father’s Tim’s wrestling with why he was going through a time so different from his normal journey I have thought of Jesus’ admonition to the disciples. May we all draw wisdom and strength from the scriptures and know that God has a plan for each of us. We will probably grow frustrated if we focus on trying to figure it out by ourselves, but the promised Holy Spirit will help. The Spirit may just use someone in our lives to help us see what we cannot see on our own.
